Description of Work

– Clear site including demolition of existing cottage and garage.
– Excavate and pour foundations to a depth of 1.6m.
– Due to the amount of groundwater this made the ground unstable. As a result the house foundations were undertaken in 2 phases, with digging half the house in the morning and pouring the concrete in the afternoon, the same for the second half the next day with the use of steel bars to connect the two halfs together. This method was adopted to prevent leaving open trenches over night, which would have filled with water and likely caved in.
